Bericote bees arrive on site
As part of our Dartford development, we promised to provide a habitat for 1 million honey bees. This week the bees have begun arriving on site.
We installed a shed for the beekeepers from the local bee keeping association to use in supporting the habitats.
Dartford is also home to two rare wild bumble bees; the Shrill carder bee and Brown-banded carder bee. With advice from our experts, we have worked to plant enough resources for all the bee habitats to thrive.
Did you know, only female bees can sting, the males (drones) are not able to sting, however they will fly at you defensively to protect their hive.
